The brief was to provide a new facility in order to conduct research into sustainable and renewable energy systems aswell as providing further design studios for the Nottingham School of Architecture.

It is important that the building should serve as an exemplar in sustainability and that its environmental credentials should bear scrutiny.

The three storey structure is designed on a strict discipline of space planning and adopts a series of concrete structural bays to set out the building in the most efficient way.

Externally, materials are selected for their green credentials aswell as their relevance to the overall composition.

For a building that achieves a BREEAM rating of excellent the general architectural language is uncompromisingly modern.
